I really like the Crystal City Farmers Market! I stopped in on my way home from work, and thought there was a really nice variety of vendors. Though, I too was disappointed that the charcuterie vendors were not there.

I am so happy when a new Farmers' market open.
Colleen, Mount Vernon Farm is a terrific grass-based farm in Sperryville VA that raised cattle, pig & lamb. I think I mentioned them in an earlier comment. I am actually working (with a few others) on a farm dinner on June 20 there that will take place in the field at Mount Vernon Farm, featuring their own lamb, as well as produce from Waterpenny (Takoma Park Farmer's markeT, Sunnyside (Dupont Circle & PennQuater) and cherries from just-reopened Cherry-on-Top orchard. Profits to benefit Rappahannock County (my county) farm land ppreservation program so we can continue to have working farms like Mount Vernon Farm (in business and in the same family since 1827), Waterpenny, Sunnyside etc. And the chef is celebrated Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve in Alexandria which will create a special menu for that evening. I wrote a post about this incredible event (and of course would appreciate if you can help get the word out - if you think it appropriate): http://www.laughingduckgardens.com/ldblog.php/2009/05/13/rappahannock-summer-solstice-farm-dinner/

It's going to be one-of-kind event!
